Coming up this Saturday (June 23rd), parProjects presents Symphonic Stylings, a collaborative art, music, and fashion event at the Electric Warehouse in Northside.

If you are wondering, what in the world is parProjects, then you are not alone. According to Jonathan Sears, one of the co-founders of parProjects, it’s an organization, founded in 2010, that works to create projects that invigorate and bridge gaps within the community. Sounds cool enough.

Made possible by a grant from Arts Wave, Symphonic Stylings has been an event in the pipeline for quite some time and has allowed the group to bring in members of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. “Presenting this unique event to Cincinnati will hopefully help continue the conversation of how to create, full, multi-faceted experiences that all can appreciate,” said Sears.

THE FASHION:

Artaya – Washington, DC designer Dana Ayanna Greaves will present a never-before seen line of her Bohemian Boss collection. Her models will slowly evolve from the tame to the wild during the duration of the show.

Nvision – Emily Buddendeck, owner of the Northside located boutique, has put together a collection of women’s vintage formalwear including sophisticated dresses, lingeries and suits that pay tribute to the high end designers of the 1940s thru 70s, yet are styled for the modern woman.

Sloane Boutique – Duru Armagon (owner) has paired both men’s and women’s high-end garments for an exciting co-ed runway show.

THE ART:

Susan Byrnes has created a series of cast-iron “lingerie flags.”

Billy Colbert will present a selection of video projection pieces from his mannequin series.

Rob Wolpert is installing a large scale, interactive light sculpture for the exhibition.

YOUR WARDROBE ATTIRE:

Guests should dress with style in mind. But, in the same breath, airy and comfortable clothing is a must — as, at 10:30 p.m., the fashion show will break into a dance-party hosted by DJ Pillo.

Symphonic Stylings will be DYNAMIC, ENTERTAINING, and PROVOCATIVE. In summary, you won’t want to miss it.
