July 3, 2012

Not entirely sure how June flew by, but here we are on the verge of Independence Day. And like all great American holidays, we look forward to it with bright eyes and eager spirits for a multitude of reasons, many of which begin and end with this simple notion — DAY OFF.

In order to fully prepare you for the celebration, let’s grab some inspiration from one of the greatest fictional politicians to date, President Thomas J. Whitmore.

On that note, if you’re wanting for some fireworks sans alien battleships and quippy Will Smith one-liners, check out our list of places to watch for the BOOM BOOM POW:

*Note the first two fireworks displays are happening tonight (July 3rd)

LaRosa’s Balloon Glow at Coney Island
July 3 at 10 p.m.

4th of July Bash at Fountain Square

All American Birthday Party Fireworks

Of course, the biggest celebration this Independence Day will be the kick off to the World Choir Games in Cincinnati. The 11-day event will be music to your ears (literally) as choirs from around the world compete at a variety of venues highlighting the Queen City. The Opening Ceremonies will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4th at U.S. Bank Arena featuring grammy award winning singer Kirk Franklin, among a long list of others. Tickets are still available.

So the question remains… are you ready to go kablooey?
