spinning out of the turn

You might not think a day that starts with a 4-mile run and ends with a block party is all in support of a stellar cause, i.e., kicking cancer to the curb, but the good folks from the Queen City have surprised you once again. That’s right, I’m talking about the annual Hyde Park Blast, which was started by Cheryl Koopman and Chad Sims in 2001.

They wanted to create an environment where the community could have fun, be active and raise money. Done and done. Since the event’s inception, it’s raised over $260,000. TAKE THAT CANCER!
