CCM
January 23, 2012

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music is recognized both nationally and internationally as one of the leading conservatories of the performing arts and electronic media. On Friday, January 20th, a good many of us braved the threat of a winter storm weather advisory to attend CCM’s A Moveable Feast, the annual fundraiser which offered those in attendance an inside look at the Conservatory. In between enjoying dinner by the bite, we were also treated to half hour samplings of entertainment from the various departments.

Cincinnati is known for its passionate arts scene and perhaps some of that can be traced to the talent premier institutions like CCM attracts. From 8 to 10 p.m., I went from a beautiful morning in Oklahoma! to an electrifying encounter with the handsome Don Giovanni. It was not the hills that were alive with the sound of music, but rather, the halls of CCM.

And, I should note, iSPYCINCY was in good company. In the musical theater performance I sat in the row behind Trey Devey, President of the CSO. In between the entertainment I ran into the Honorable Judge Susan Dlott and Stan Chesley. Finally, on my way to the opera, I spied Elizabeth and Thom Mariner, publishers of Express Cincinnati

a senior in the musical theater program performing “Tonight” from West Side Story

For those that missed the fundraiser, it is never too late to support CCM by attending a full length performance. Each department has plenty of upcoming showcases tailored to satisfy your cultural appetite.

DANCE. THEATER. E-MEDIA. MUSIC… LIGHTS. CAMERA. ACTION!
