It’s coming… the Bunbury Music Festival (July 13-15) is a month away, and we want you to be so insatiated with an appetite for the awesomeness that will fall upon the Queen City that you will a.) BUY tickets; b.) spread the word; c.) go bunburying!
So, the 5 things you need to know, let’s begin:
5 – Bunbury has been listed on Yahoo’s Essential Summer Music Festivals, alongside the likes of Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Pitchfork, and more. Pretty. Freaking. Cool.
Weezer
Death Cab for Cutie
4 – Bunbury features headlining acts such as Death Cab for Cutie, Weezer, and Jane’s Addiction. In total, the three day festival will feature 100 live performances on six stages. Niiiiice.
3 - Bunbury is in its inaugural year and is the brainchild of Bill Donabedian, who is a veteran music and event promoter. According to Bill: “The Bunbury Music Festival will feature the best of our local indie bands with national and regional bands that fans may have seen at other great festival and concert venues.” Oh yeah, he’s also the man behind the MidPoint Music Festival and has served as the managing director of Fountain Square for five years. So I’d say he knows a thing or two about showing the people of Cincinnati a good time.
2 – Bunbury will be held at Sawyer Point, the ideal waterfront location for bands and fans alike. Is the city of Cincinnati experiencing a renaissance? Umm yeah.
1 – Why Bunbury? The name of the event comes from an Oscar Wilde play, “The Importance of Being Ernest” and means “to have a made up excuse to get out of doing something boring.”
Therefore, for the weekend of July 13-15, 2012, you have a great excuse to get out of whatever you don’t want to do. Cheers to Bunbury!
